Using stories to get your kids interested in online Quran Teaching

Living in a fast-paced world where technology vies for your attention with every swipe, tap, and snap, it’s not easy to get our kids to know the language of our Lord. Since I have nine children from 2 to early 20s, I want to talk about practical ways for every age.

Why is it important to know that stories make up almost a third of the Quran?

Allah SWT knows his creation better than we do in His infinite wisdom. Almost a third of the Quran’s stories is one of its best parts. Allah SWT tells us stories so that we can learn from them and use the lessons in our lives and our prayers. So, let’s realize that the Quran can be understood in the same way as the saying “facts tell, stories sell” in sales. Facts can teach some things, but the story makes us feel something. In Surah Kahf, for example, we don’t know how many people were in the cave with their dogs or how long they were there. Instead, we know why they were there and what happened when they came out of the cave. Allah told us the facts we needed to know through the story.

Animal and insect stories are popular with young children up to age 7.

Animal stories in the Quran are so much fun to read to kids in Stage One, who are usually between 1 and 7 years old. At this early age, boys and girls seem to love Allah’s creations and the way He talks about them in His Glorious Book.

So [Solomon], amused by what she said, smiled and said, “My Lord, help me be thankful for the good things You have done for my parents and me, and help me to do what You think is right. And let me join Your righteous servants because you are kind.”

After reading it, you should talk about Allah’s Mercy and Wisdom. Talk about what he gave to the Prophet Sulayman (ASA). You can talk to Sulayman, who saw the Queen of Sheba, about the hoopoe bird that was late to the gathering. This kind of drama is easy to understand and get caught up in, thanks to Allah’s greatness. The Quran talks about many different animals, like the honeybee, elephant, spider, lion, birds, termites, wolf, and many more. You can talk to them for days and teach them to respect Allah’s creations by not crushing them. You can also show them how things in nature work because of Allah’s care and mercy.

Parts of the Quran that focus on drama are more attractive to kids ages 8 to 12.

When we honestly ask for help from the Book of Allah, we can only get it from the One who promises it. When we teach our kids that Allah speaks directly to them and the rest of His creation through this book, and they read it, they’ll be able to follow Allah’s advice and stay on the right path.

Try some of these with your kids and talk to them about what they learned. If they have trouble picturing some of the more significant scenes, tell them to think of it as a movie instead of something from the past. I pray that Allah opens the doors of our hearts so we can return to His book as a guide for our lives and a cure for a troubled world because that’s the only way we, as Ummah, can get back to honor.

Other than money, here are five ways to give to Charity.

You often want to give to Charity but don’t have enough money. You want to help people in need or give to Charity, but you only have enough money to get by until your next paycheck.

A mistaken idea that many of us have is that Charity has to be a monetary gift. It has to be cash to feel like you’ve given Charity to someone if we want to get the most out of it with the help of an online Quran tutor at an online Quran academy.

Yes, Charity in cash is encouraged, and because so many people in the world need money so badly, we encourage each other to give from our wealth.

But what if you don’t have enough money for Charity? Does that mean you can’t give in some other way? No. There are many ways to give to Charity that doesn’t involve money; we’ll discuss some below.

Charity with Dhikr

Did you know that praising God is a kind of Charity? When the Messenger of Allah (SAW) was alive, some of his wealthy friends gave money and other things to the masjid as Charity. One of the people there didn’t have any money or property. This made him feel left out, so he talked to the Prophet (SAW) about it.

So, you might not have enough money to give Charity cash, but know that your dhikr of Allah (SWT) is still considered Charity.

Give Charity with your hands.

Even if you can’t give money, you can still help people by giving your time. You can help the old lady mow her lawn, run some errands with your parents, or fix a pipe at the masjid that is leaking.

Charity with Your Manner

You’ve heard the saying, “A smile is a good deed,” and in a Hadith, the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “Every good deed is Charity.”

When we give Charity with our actions or manners, it means that by being a good person, we help others. It means that we do good things for other people, treat them well, and don’t hurt them in any way.

Good treatment of other people doesn’t cost us any money, and Allah (SWT) rewards it very highly. So, instead of giving someone money, your good behavior toward them or other people is already Charity in Allah’s eyes.

Charity with What You Know

We can give knowledge as Charity so quickly these days. Many people have free blogs and websites where they share what they know. This is a good deed that doesn’t cost you money (unless you have to pay to connect to the internet).

Many people choose to give away books for free, make YouTube accounts to teach others their skills, etc.

All of these things are a way to give Charity without giving money. Any information you give away for free to someone else is a kind act.

Charity with Your Time

Have you heard of lawyers who work for free? They are lawyers who take on some or all of their clients’ court cases for free, usually because their clients can’t pay for legal fees.

This is an excellent example of using your time to do Charity (and even your knowledge). Use your time to help someone else; this will count as your Charity.

Maybe a friend of yours has a job interview, and you offer to watch their child while they are gone. Or, you could give your weekend time to help a charity give out relief supplies. Or, you could offer to stay at the masjid after everyone has left to clean up and lock the doors.

All these things you do with your time, and many more, are acts of Charity.

They might not seem like much at the time, but as long as you do them with good intentions, they will be seen as acts of kindness.

When we look around us and at what we do every day, we will see that there are many things we can do besides giving money as Charity. So, don’t feel bad if you think you can’t afford to give money to Charity. Don’t forget that there are still infinite ways to help others.
