Google honors cell biologist dr. Kamal ranadive with doodle to celebrate her 104th birth Anniversary. On November 8, 1917, Ranadive was born in Pune, India. She belongs to a well-educated family background.

Dr. Kamal ranadive’s father was a genius bi ologist who was a professor at Fergusson College, Pune. No doubt, she was a bright student from childhood.

Her husband was a great mathematician. Both of them moved to Bombay after getting married. They had only one child named Anil Jaysingh.

  1. R. Khanolkar was a well-known Pathologist and founder of the Indian Cancer Research Centre (ICRC). After completing her Ph.D. in 1949, her professor, Khanolkar, encouraged her to seek a fellowship at an American University. 

Postdoctoral Research Fellowship

 Dr. Kamal Ranadive, on her professor’s advice, got a postdoctoral research fellowship to work on tissue culture techniques. She got to work with George Gey, a famous scientist for his laboratory innovation, the HeLa cell line. 

The Indian Cancer Research Centre (ICRC)

After returning to India, dr. Kamal ranadive rejoined the Indian Cancer Research Centre (ICRC). Here she worked as a senior research officer. Afterward, she worked in the setup of the Experimental Biology Laboratory and Tissue Culture Laboratory in Bombay.

Director of the Indian Cancer Research Centre 

From 1966 to 1970, dr. Kamal ranadive got the position of Director of the Indian Cancer Research Centre. Afterward, in the early 1960s, she worked with her assistants and innovated tissue culture media and related reagents.
