Traveling alone is however an ideal solution to learn to be more independent, to become more open-minded, to get out of our comfort zone, and much more!
It allows us to explore the world while providing us with an enriching experience.
This is the type of trip that I personally prefer. So here is what I have to tell you about solo travel.
Hoping that these 10 reasons will encourage you to try this memorable experience at least once in your life.
1. It won’t be all loneliness
The fear of being alone is one of the main reasons why people don’t dare to travel solo.
Obviously, when I say solo trip, it necessarily means that we leave without being accompanied. Except that most people tend to think that the trip you do alone, happens in solitude. Which is not entirely true.
Just because you board a plane alone doesn’t mean you’re necessarily going to spend the rest of your trip alone without talking to anyone. On the contrary, when you travel alone, it encourages you to meet new people.
2. You will meet new people
I realized that when traveling alone, I meet many more people than when I travel with a group of friends.
When you are alone, you seem more approachable to others. You will realize that making friends isn’t as hard as it sounds.
A good trick is to look to other solo travelers. Hostels and organized tours are ideal places to meet other travelers. Very often, the people I meet during my travels are backpackers.
Along the way, you will meet some people with whom you will get along very well and who will later become friends for life. And other encounters will be rather ephemeral.
You’ll even meet people you thought you’d never get along with. In the end, you’re never really alone and it becomes difficult to get bored.
For my part, there are even times when I try to be alone. I personally find that spending a few days in solitary mode once in a while is good.
You can never disagree with yourself. So there is no quibbling and you won’t need to worry about other people’s eyes. Over time, I learned to like being alone.
3. One will get out of the comfort zone
The step that I found the most difficult was when it came time to buy the plane ticket. Making this decision really pushed me out of my comfort zone.
When you go abroad, you will definitely be pushed to try new experiences and face new challenges.
Since you won’t have any family members or close friends by your side to lean on in these situations, you’re going to have to face your weaknesses, push your limits, and go beyond yourself in order to overcome them.
Which is totally different than when you are traveling with your friends or family. You are in a group and therefore decisions are made collectively.
It was by solving more and more problems on my own that I became better at finding solutions. In other words, it was by dint of traveling alone that I gained independence, self-confidence, and autonomy.
4. You will feel the freedom
During my solo travels, I was able to savor the sweet taste of freedom. I got drunk from day one when I realized I could do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted without ever having to explain myself to anyone.
Whether it was because I wanted to sleep late or get up at sunrise, it didn’t matter because those were my decisions since I was completely in charge.
Being alone allows you to make decisions according to your tastes, your pace, your availability, and your means without having to compromise in order to live YOUR experience. Once detached from your daily life, you will be able to say that you are completely free. This feeling is just awesome and rewarding.
5. You will satisfy your thirst for learning
It is not for nothing that we say that traveling in Manchester Airport Taxi is the school of life. It is simply an experience that keeps teaching us new things every day. It may seem a bit exaggerated said like that, but it’s true! And living this experience satisfies this thirst for learning.
By heading for a destination of your choice, you open up to the world and its different cultures. It also allows us to learn more about aspects of our daily lives as well as about ourselves. I emerge enriched from each trip I undertake. Being a curious person by nature, going alone allowed me to deepen my knowledge of several aspects of life. It is through the people I meet and the situations I face that I learn. Among other things, I learned to speak new languages, negotiate, and travel light.
6. To discover yourself
To leave alone is necessary to come face to face with yourself. Learn from ourselves, depend only on ourselves, be responsible for the choices we make. It’s a good way to learn to love your own company, to manage stress and the unexpected. We inevitably come back a little grown-up.

7. Make your own program
This is undoubtedly one of the arguments that will make you want to try the experience of solo travel. Indeed what could be more frustrating than coming back from a city or a country without having seen everything you wanted? Because very often, traveling in a group involves making certain concessions. When one of your friends wants to go shopping, another prefers lazing on the beach, when you are more into museums and visiting the city. It’s not always easy to please everyone in these cases, and it sometimes feels like time is running out before returning home. One of the advantages of traveling alone is that you are in control of your day’s schedule. No more compromise, we can do what the
8. do nothing
Of course, holidays with family, friends or even as a couple have many advantages, but this leaves little time to find yourself with yourself. The solo trip allows you to find yourself with your thoughts, to do some introspection. Now might be a good time to try things like meditation or just doing nothing and just enjoying. A little letting go never hurt anyone after all!
9. Gain trust
As surprising as it may seem, traveling alone helps build self-confidence. By organizing your trip from A to Z, you step out of your comfort zone, but you also realize that you are capable of handling much more than you thought.
10. Live intense moments
That’s also the beauty of going on a trip alone. You live the present moment intensely, you pay attention to details, you develop your senses and above all, you experience your vacation in a unique and original way.
Going alone to a country that I knew absolutely nothing about also allowed me to discover who I really was. Simply because I detach myself from other people’s opinions and trust in my abilities. It allowed me to focus on what I really liked, the way of life of the places that suited me the most.
