Having down time is incredibly important, especially if you’re someone that works very hard and keeps a busy schedule. When do you have time to do something other than work and focus on your hurried schedule?
There’s value in taking a little time off, resting your body and your brain, and allowing yourself to relax fully. We are going to talk about how beneficial it is to rest stop and periodically beyond simply just going to sleep each night.
Mental Restoration Comes from Periodic Breaks
Do you feel like your mind is constantly stressed and full of thoughts? Do you wish that you had a little time to take a mental break? That is how a lot of us feel, and the problem is that we simply don’t give ourselves time to relax mentally.
Many of today’s busy entrepreneurs and employees are constantly in work mode. Even when they’re old, they’re expecting messages or calls from employers and clients. There’s never a time for their brain to just rest. Even when they’re supposed to be sleeping, they often can’t sleep soundly because they could get a call at any moment.
This is part of our always online culture, especially for people who are doing side jobs and running businesses out of their own homes or through their smart devices. You don’t want to miss a sale, but by living in that way, you have a hard time taking a mental break.
So, it is very important that you periodically take some time off. Turn off your phone and all of your devices or just post to your status that you’re taking a few hours or even a whole day off from work. Don’t accept any calls or messages that are related to work and give yourself a mental vacation.
What this does for you is reinvigorate your mental state, helping you to completely de-stress so that you feel energized. You can come back to work after your break feeling more focused and full of energy.
The Joy of Catching Up
Do you feel like there’s just too much to do around your home and you never have enough time to get it all done? That’s a pretty common feeling, and it comes from the same culture of always being ready to work. How can you focus on getting tasks done at home when there’s always a job calling to you?
What if you were able to get all of those at home tasks caught up and completed? Wouldn’t that be wonderful? All the cleaning, landscaping, and painting that you wanted to do- this could all be taken care of so you finally feel like you have your to-do List fully completed.
How do you pull that off? You do it by hiring professionals to take care of some of these things. You probably will never have time to get done all the tasks you want to do, so why not sometimes hire a professional for yard cleaning services or for house cleaning? Why not hire someone to do the painting for the household repairs that you never get around to?
It may feel strange to have someone else do something that you know you could do yourself, but it can feel really good to have those things done finally. Odds are, professionals can do the job better than you and faster than you, helping you get through your to-do list very quickly.
There is joy in getting everything done, and sometimes it’s necessary to get some help to find that feeling of joy.
Take a Break to Live Longer
Do you know what the number one killer in the world is? It’s not heart disease, it’s not cancer, and it’s not obesity. It’s actually stress. Stress can cause all sorts of health problems over a long period of time that medical experts say can lead to a variety of serious and fatal health problems.
The stress in your life is going to build up and get worse if you don’t take a break. If you constantly push yourself and don’t take time to relax, you may constantly feel stressed that has to take a toll on your body. And it will shorten your life. Some people can work constantly and not feel very stressed, but that’s not the average person. Most people need a break every now and then, and most people these days need more breaks than what they are getting.
That is how people reduce their stress and make sure that stress doesn’t have long term, serious effects in their life. If you want to lengthen your life, look for opportunities to take real and meaningful breaks. These breaks are central to living a longer, fuller, happier life.
What is it that is stressing you out? Take a break from it, even if that means going somewhere else to live for a while. You may need to vacation to a remote area or change up your entire schedule to take a break from what stresses you. It is worth it to go through that trouble, though, as it will help you to focus once more and not feel worried and hurried all of the time.
Stop Ignoring Your Problems
Because we tend to live such busy lives, we may tend to ignore the issues that we are living with. We could have health problems that you are not even paying attention to. It could be family problems that we are not dealing with, and taking a break from work and some of our responsibilities can help us to make the time to find these things out.
You may not even notice some of the problems that are happening around you, but they may need your attention, but you may only be able to give your attention to them properly if you give yourself a break.
There is incredible value in giving yourself some time for your mind and your body to relax. You may not even realize some of the benefits until much later.
