Today, vinyl records collectors will celebrate vinyl Record Store Day by buying special releases. This year, we decided to use this occasion to look at the future of vinyl as an art form. RSD is coming up and you must have heard that RSD is all about celebrating music. But there is no one who would have thought that RSD 2020 is going to be so special, which is going to bring a change in the music industry.

There are two main reasons why RSD is growing by leaps and bounds. The first reason is that a lot of people are getting connected to music through streaming services. Streaming services like Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora are available for free and if you download any song, it is considered as a crime.

The second reason is that we are living in a time where technology is evolving at an amazing speed, and vinyl records are taking a backseat. In fact, the music industry has never been as powerful as it is now. So, let’s see what we can expect from this year.

Vinyl Records Vs Streaming Services

The Vinyl records have always been a symbol of high quality sound. Vinyl records can be played anywhere. It can also be listened to on multiple devices. If we compare this with a streaming service like Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora and others, then the difference is too obvious. There is no doubt that we have gone digital and a lot of things can be done with our smartphones; but there is no doubt that vinyl records still remain one of the best sources of music.

If you are a fan of classic rock and want to listen to your favorite songs; then it is the only option left. Although streaming services have become an integral part of our life and we can’t live without them; but it is not going to stop vinyl records from shining in the coming years.

New Format & Record Store Day

A lot of people who don’t know that RSD is not only about listening to the records, but you can also buy them. As a matter of fact, there are many people who purchase their vinyl records as a gift for their loved ones.

The first RSD in 2014 was celebrated with a new record format called LP+ which has a 7″ record and a 12″ record. The idea behind this was to allow the people to enjoy the convenience of streaming and also the best thing about this is that there were more options to choose from.

Another new record format which is being introduced is the LP and the vinyl record can be enjoyed by a limited number of people. In fact, the vinyl records will be available only for the first 200,000 people who are going to attend RSD.

Now, let’s see what is the next big thing.
