Cancun, Mexico has been a popular vacation destination since the 1970s and there are many reasons why it’s still at the top of many people’s lists today. The sights, sounds, smells and tastes that make up this beautiful tropical paradise offer more than most people can experience in one trip; there are simply too many things to do in Cancun to pack into one visit. If you’re planning your next vacation, here are ten reasons why Cancun should be your next destination, as well as some helpful tips to help you make the most of your time here. While most flights depart and arrive on time, flight delays may happen as well as Spirit Flight Cancellation Today.
The nightlife
There is no shortage of clubs and bars in Cancun. You’ll find entertainment right on Avenida Nuevo Leon, just a few blocks from your hotel room. And if you’re looking for something more laid-back, visit one of the city’s countless cantinas and get to know a local. Also, if you’re looking for even more action, go straight to Isla Mujeres — it’s just 20 minutes away by ferry. If you’re staying in downtown Cancun, there are plenty of nearby clubs within walking distance — making clubbing an easy option without having to worry about driving home at night. Or, if your ultimate goal is simply to dance while drinking with strangers, take advantage of PubCabana (just across from Plaza Las Americas mall) or Wet Dance Club (just down 4th avenue). There are also many great nightclubs located throughout all areas of Cancun where you can enjoy some great music and dancing till morning or early afternoon. The variety will suit every taste. Don’t forget to ask your tour agents who book day trips where they think would be fun that day, they know best!
The shopping
Unlike, say, Miami or Los Angeles, where big-name brands reign supreme and international chain stores line street after street, Cancun offers a lot of unique shopping experiences. And you don’t have to break the bank to take advantage. The city is home to over a hundred artesanía markets where you can shop for everything from handcrafted jewelry and furniture to clothing and shoes at an affordable price. If you want designer brands, however, then there are several of those sprinkled throughout as well. The best part is that many stores stay open until 10 p.m., giving you more time to shop! Additionally, Cancun offers tourist-friendly deals on sales tax on purchases over $100 USD.
The atmosphere
A tropical paradise, full of white-sand beaches and crystal clear water, is an experience that most people want to try at least once in their lives. There’s a reason why Cancun is ranked as one of Mexico’s top destinations—and one you will not want to miss out on. Whether you like laying out on sun loungers or doing some snorkeling in your free time, there’s plenty of activities for everyone. Whether it’s chilling by a pool or exploring ruins on a jungle adventure; foodies won’t be disappointed with so many options from seafood to local fiesta feasts. All these things make staying at one of these resorts a great experience! Where better than a place where luxury meets service? The facilities offered are second to none and if you are traveling with friends, then choosing apartments are also another option: perfect if you want to do it all yourself without having to pay any extra cost. You can even visit nearby towns if you fancy a change of scenery – they really aren’t far away, so don’t worry about how long you need to get there by bus or taxi!
The beaches
Cancun’s weather is beautiful all year round. Plan your getaway for December and January if you want to escape the harsh winter. If you’re looking for hot summer sun, July through October is prime time, but not quite as hot as it gets in south Florida and other Caribbean spots. December through April has an average of 30 degree Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) days with a low of 24 degrees Celsius (75 degrees Fahrenheit). The rainy season falls from May to November with an average rainfall of 75 centimeters (29 inches) each month. In short, there are a ton of great reasons to plan your trip to Mexico now! Hands down, Dos Ojos cenote is one of my favorite experiences in Cancun. It’s located about 20 minutes outside of town and made up of two large caverns connected by a narrow tunnel that you must swim through underwater on both legs – which makes it one of my favorites because swimming skills aren’t required! This cavern isn’t nearly as deep or massive as others like Tankah Xtreme or Gran Cenote, so snorkeling isn’t available here, but I still love swimming around underwater formations like mini lakes, giant stalactites and stalagmites and bathing platforms carved into rocks above water level.
Amazing restaurants
Cancun is located on Mexico’s Caribbean coast and dates back to 1500 BC. The area was used as a port for ships trading in and out of New Orleans and Houston, making it one of Mexico’s busiest ports for most of its history. In 1950, American entrepreneur William Jenkins began building hotels along Cancun’s coastline. Several others soon followed suit, and within two decades, tourism had become one of Mexico’s main economic drivers. Today, around 4 million people visit every year, giving it one of the highest tourism rates in Latin America. Why not come visit?
Great weather (yes we said it!)
The weather in Cancun is hot, but it’s not humid, so while you may sweat, you won’t suffer. There are beautiful beaches to enjoy (more on that later), great restaurants and shopping options, and some of Mexico’s best luxury hotels. We think these factors make for a wonderful vacation experience! Enjoy a relaxing spa day: Many tourists flock to Cancun for its incredible spas, which offer a wide variety of services from massages to face masks. Why not enjoy some pampering when on vacation? The Melia hotel has a spa with 17 treatment rooms and 9 private Jacuzzis; there are plenty of other choices as well, so pick one that fits your style and get ready to relax!
Good value for money!
Whether you’re into extreme sports or luxury resorts, there’s something for every traveler in Cancun. For a safe adventure, check out Xplor Adventure Park , a theme park built deep in a jungle-like forest with zip lines and underground caves that explore Mayan culture and history. Or if high-end hotels are more your style, The Hotel Zone is one of Cancun’s most famous areas where you can find luxurious resorts like Riu Palace Las Americas and Palladium Hotel & Spa . If relaxation is what you seek, be sure to reserve time for Mamita’s Beach Club , an adults-only beach club with cabanas overlooking turquoise waters.
Unique experiences and activities
There are numerous activities in Cancun that you simply can’t do elsewhere. From parasailing to taking a submarine tour of Isla Mujeres, there is no shortage of fun things to do. If you enjoy hiking and nature, take a trip out to El Tuito near Playacar or if scuba diving is more your style then head out to Playacar Reef and see what you can find! At night, visit world-famous nightclubs like Oasis or Pacha for an unforgettable experience. There’s plenty to do in Cancun so we definitely recommend it as a vacation destination. It really does have something for everyone!
Friendly locals
The locals in Cancun and Mexico City are extremely friendly, helpful and hospitable. They’re also some of the most beautiful people you’ll ever meet! The food: Whether you’re visiting a Mexican family for dinner or eating at one of our many world-class restaurants, there are plenty of healthy (and unhealthy) options to enjoy. For example, try tacos al pastor—those tasty little treats wrapped in pineapple that go great with a cold Corona Light or Pacifico beer. You can also enjoy drinks at a la carte restaurants like El Squid Roe or Isla Mujeres Seafood Bar & Grill right on Playa del Palmar beach, where you can sip margaritas while gazing out over turquoise waters.
History
The ancient Mayan’s used to call it Hunab which in their language meant the place where we find all that is needed to live. When Christopher Columbus came across a piece of land, he named it Isla de las Posesiones because he thought it was a good place for his ships to replenish their food supply. The name later evolved into Isla de Cancún and finally into what it is today: a thriving modern city with nightlife, shopping, restaurants and wonderful beaches. When you visit Spirit Airlines Detroit, Cancún you will never want to leave again! But just in case you do decide on moving here forever, check out these ten must-see places. You can’t go wrong with any choice!
