Known by many names, shilajit is also known as mineral pitch, mineral wax, black asphaltum, Asphaltum punjabianum (Latin), shargai, dorobi, barahshin, baragshun, mumlai, brag zhun, chao-tong, wu ling zhi, baad-a-ghee, and arkhar-tash and mumiyo (consistently translated mumijo, mumio, momia, and moomiyo).
It is a bit like tar (known as biomass) found in the Himalayan and Tibetan mountains. As lush green forests covered the hillsides, shilajit formed. As temperatures rise near the mountains of India, this tar-like medical miracle emerges from the cracks in the mountains. From pale yellow to pure black in color, the black variety is considered the most nutritious.
It is not yet clear whether shilajit is organic or geological, as it has a high content of nutrients found in both phases. Some of the nutrients commonly found within it are fulvic acids, humic acids and benzo alpha pyrones.

How Do I Take Shilajit?
Shilajit is not readily available at the grocery store – however, you may have purchased imported shilajit from various online retailers.
