The northernmost state of India offers some of the most magnificent landscapes, including snow-capped mountains and a tranquil panoramic view of lush green woods, making it an ideal tourist destination.
Kashmir is without a doubt one of India’s most magnificent and stunning places, and we can’t recommend it highly enough. There are, however, some spots in Kashmir that everyone should visit, whether they are on a short trip or planning a holiday with their family or group of friends. So, here are some of our favourite places to visit in Kashmir:
Kashmir Great Lakes Trek :
The Kashmir Great Lakes trip begins at Sonamarg, a popular tourist destination, and takes approximately 8 days to complete. The trek’s grade falls under the intermediate level category. To complete the circular tour, one must hike for approximately 63 kilometres, with a maximum altitude of around 13000 feet. The Kashmir Great Lake walk necessitates a high level of physical condition in order to complete it while enjoying it to the fullest and without hardship.
The walk actually begins 3 kilometres ahead of Sonamarg on the Srinagar highway. Here, one can purchase food from the Dhabas that are located nearby. The trail begins in a lush alpine meadow and continues into a dense forest of maple and pine trees.
From this vantage point, the Sonamarg valley appears to be spectacular. Throughout the trek, trekkers will always be trekking through meadows.
Tour at Srinagar:
Srinagar is the capital of the state of Kashmir, as well as one of the most majestic and gorgeous capital towns in India that you will ever see, making it one of the greatest places to visit in Kashmir. This city is surrounded by snow-capped peaks, lovely lakes, and nice and humble people who will make your stay unforgettable.
Pashminas, carved wooden boxes, Kashmiri carpets, and the world-famous Kashmiri Saffron are all available for purchase. Stop by one of the market’s famed eateries to sample some authentic Kashmiri cuisine. With its distinctive spices and vibrant colours, Kashmiri cuisine is regarded as the peak of culinary expertise. While in Srinagar, take a “Shikara ride” on the tranquil Dal Lake, which will immerse you in nature while allowing you to take in the breathtaking scenery.
Tour at Gulmarg:
Gulmarg is known as the “Meadow of Flowers,” and appropriately so, since the town transforms into a flower bed as far as the eye can see in the spring.
While in Gulmarg, you can ride in one of the world’s highest cable cars, also known as a “Gondola” in these parts. Golf enthusiasts can also visit Gulmarg Golf Course, which is surrounded by snow-capped mountains and is perhaps one of the most magnificent golf courses in the world.
Tour at Sonmarg:
Sonmarg, often known as the “Golden Meadow,” is one of Kashmir’s most well-known and best-known tourist destinations. The “Thajiwas Glacier” in Sonmarg welcomes you with crystal clear waterfalls and beautiful meadows.
You can go to the Nilagrad River, which is adored by the people. This river also has a lot of therapeutic and healing characteristics, so don’t forget to visit it while you’re in Sonmarg.
Tour at Pahalgam:
Pahalgam is also known as “Shepherd Valley.” You can go to Aru Valley and Betaab Valley while you’re here. Pahalgam has its own allure that attracts many Bollywood directors, resulting in a slew of films being shot here.
Pahalgam contains various lakes, including Sheshnag Lake, Tarsar Lake, and Marsar Lake, which is home to one of India’s most famous treks.
Tour at Patnitop:
Patnitop is situated on a plateau in the Shivalik Himalayan ranges’ belt. Patnitop is surrounded by lush green meadows and a variety of mountain peaks, making it an exciting destination.

Tour at Amarnath:
Amarnath Cave, located at an altitude of 3,888 metres, is a very sacred and auspicious destination for Hindus, with a route that passes via Pahalgam. It is Hinduism’s holiest shrine and plays a significant role in Hinduism.

You must hike 13 kilometres to reach the temple, which takes about 7 to 8 hours depending on your pace. If you don’t want to walk, you can hire horses or helicopters to take you to the temple.

Anantnag, in Kashmir, is known for its freshwater springs and mystical gardens. It is the commercial and financial centre of the Kashmir Valley, located roughly 53 kilometres from the state capital of Kashmir.
You can even take a day trip here to areas like Daksum and Verinag, where you can relax and unwind in gorgeous settings.

Most people have never heard of Sanasar, which is a shame because it is one of Kashmir’s hidden gems and one of the nicest places to visit in the state. Sanasar is the place to go if you want to try out some adventure sports and activities, such as rock climbing, trekking, abseiling, or paragliding.
Sanasar derives its name from the twin lakes “Sana” and “Sar.” You can even spend some time in adjacent eco-friendly and self-sustaining towns.
Tour at Pulwama:
Pulwama is a charming tiny town in the state of Kashmir’s Pulwama district. This location is renowned as “Anand of Kashmir,” which literally translates to “Joy of Kashmir,” and there is no doubt that it will bring you joy.
This town is known for its apple orchards and farms, which produce some of the best apples you’ll ever taste. Waterfalls, natural springs, and picturesque valleys will accompany you wherever you go in this town, making it an incredible spot to explore.
Tour at Dachigam National Park:
When most people think of Kashmir, they think of breathtaking splendour, mysterious lakes, and beautiful mountains. However, as Dachigam National Park demonstrates, Kashmir is much more than that. The vegetation and fauna of the area, which is located between 1700 and 4300 metres above sea level, will astound you.
It is one of the best places to visit in Kashmir because you may observe Himalayan Bears, owls, leopards, and other wildlife.

The Aru Valley, nestled against the backdrop of the towering Himalayas, is one of Kashmir’s most beautiful regions. It is around 12 kilometres from Pahalgam and serves as a base camp for various trekking destinations, including the Kolahoi Glacier and the Tarsar Lake Trek.
If you don’t want to engage in strenuous activities like trekking, you can go horseback riding or hiking. The Aru River, a tributary of the Lidder River, flows through the valley.
Tour at Kishtwar National Park:
Kishtwar is situated on a plateau above the Chenab River and below the Nagin Sheer Glacier, surrounded by acres of lush pine and deodar forests.
This national park, which spans 400 square kilometres and is home to a variety of species such as musk deer and Himalayan bears, is ideal for wildlife and nature enthusiasts.
