It’s myself… The good ugly, the bad and horrible!

My birthplace was Mauritius. I was about three years of age, wearing full leg braces due to polio my father passed away after a painful three years in a wheel chair disabled by a stroke. My mother was a young and beautiful wife was confronted with the daunting task of raising two of my siblings and myself. Although the life in Mauritius was not an easy one for me, it was also moments of joy. I remember vivid and fond memory of playing with soccer alongside my buddies on the dirt road that was just close to our home, being chosen as the school captain three times in three years. As captain, I led the team to an historic victory at the inter-school level and, of course, the unending and unending love and devotion of my mom and two sisters. When I was in school I was always among the elite five of students. The achievement of academics was an crucial goal in my home country because it was considered an opportunity to live an improved life for both oneself and the family. I was always a diligent student and was able to achieve. I always felt happy seeing the joy on the faces of my family, but not necessarily the acknowledgement or the diploma of the Headmaster. I had to put in the effort to achieve success and outdo myself just as my mom did for her kids. In the midst of all that was going on around me, I subconsciously I assumed the position as my father. I had now decided to carry out all the tasks I would have done if the time come for him to be alive.

I was always creative, entrepreneurial in my work, building or fixing anything. At when I was nine, I made sling shots from leftover strips of elastic bands that my mother had made from her sewing machines, and then made small sailing boats from wood and dust pans with handles that were long from old oil cans , and offered them to local shopkeepers and friends from school for a few shillings which could be used to purchase school supplies, but not enough to purchase that dream soccer shoe that were often on the Christmas wish list. In my earlier childhood, there was a lot hospitals visits to me Maurice Roussety. Ranging from acute asthma attacks, diphtheria and gangrenous infections and being given hours to live after swallowing a two cent coin, I was soon known in hospitals in the area.

When I turned 13, my my mother took the bold step to Australia. I went to Chandler High school, a small school that was located situated in Noble Park. I was a bit rusty in my English and had a powerful French accent and was a soccer player (rather rather than Aussie rules) with a dark complexion and dressed in a different way. I was larger than the average 13-year-old. What… Was that my look from my classmates and teachers? In the beginning immigrants like me were scarce and rare at the very most within Chandler High. I was never the same in school and never truly accepted. There were times when I wanted to end the whole thing.

I later built a large consulting business and then and then I studied Economics as well as Commerce. I and graduated my Masters degrees as well as earned a Ph.D. However, my accomplishments did not teach me much about life and its vagaries. The most important lessons I learned came later in life , when my life was shattered, I fell into an unforgiving pit and reached the bottom of the mountain, perhaps just a few feet below. I lost everything: my family and my reputation, as well as my money and my determination to live. It was a good thing that I have dug deep, dug myself out of the dark hole, and am now digging the business of living. I would be delighted to share more with you.

A video-based audio presentation is created to each speech project. The presentation will be provided prior to the event to ensure compatibility in the location. A PDF version of your presentation can be sent to you, which will be available for sharing with participants prior to or before the beginning of the ceremony.

A headset or microphone with a lapel is recommended to facilitate effective interaction and communication with the public.
