You must meet the project management certification online qualifying requirements before applying for the exam. To apply for the exam, you must meet two requirements. These are the following:
- You should have project management expertise that is applicable to this position.
- You should have 35 contact hours of formal project management training under your belt.
Both of these prerequisites must be met. To fully comprehend the following two qualifications, read our article on PMP eligibility requirements.
The second one is simple to obtain by enrolling in a PMP certification course. However, before participating in training, you must first meet criteria #1. Otherwise, all of your hard work will be for naught.
If you don’t have any relevant experience and don’t meet PMI’s qualification requirements, I recommend taking the CAPM test. To learn more about CAPM, see our article on the differences between CAPM and PMP certification.
If you meet both prerequisites, proceed to the following section to learn about the various steps involved in applying for the exam.
